Recruitment specialists Emmerson Kitney announces plans for significant growth
18th October 2016
ONE of the region’s leading recruitment specialists is looking to fill vacancies of its own after announcing plans for 'significant growth' Emmerson Kitney, which helps to connect companies with the ideal candidates for roles, is to expand its team and at the same time grow profit.
David Kitney, managing director of the Welton-based company, said: “We are looking to increase our head count from 11 to 17 in the next 18 months and that starts from now.
“We are looking for a recruitment manager and a business development person to channel more resources into the client engagement side of things. We also want to add to our talented tech team.”
Mr Kitney said: “In 2012 we had a turnover of £360,000. “Now, together with our partnerbusiness SG Financial Recruitment, which launched in 2012 with leading firm of accountants Smailes Goldie, we are just short of £1m."
“Hopefully, our strategic plan will get us to £1.6m in turnover in the next four years, in which time we are looking to grow people, market share and profit. ”
Working to find the “perfect fit” for both candidates and clients Emmerson Kitney specialises in the fields of accountancy and finance, engineering and technical, executive search, information technology and sales and marketing.
Through its effective partnership building, Emmerson Kitney has become the preferred partner for engineering giant Siemens, which is developing Hull’s wind turbine blade factory at Alexandra Dock and will have a workforce of 1,000 people when fully operational.
Where Emmerson Kitney varies from other agencies is in having its own recruitment academy.
“We have developed this over the past few years and take new entrants into the recruitment industry, with no experience whatsoever, and nurture their talent,” said Mr Kitney.
“It’s all about getting good people into the business, be it new entrants or experienced and ambitious recruiters.
“And for a small business like ours, it is rare to find so many employee benefits such as a £2,000 annual training allowance, good bonus scheme in place and your birthday off.”
Mr Kitney said: “In joining with Smailes Goldie to create SG Financial Recruitment, this also makes us unique as no other agency has a partnership and joint venture with an accountancy firm. This part of the business has been doubling year on year.
“We are also looking for other joint-venture partners – it is something we are very keen on developing.
“Where we also differ is we do a lot of psychometric work-based assessments – I would say 70 to 80 per cent of clients want, and require this kind of testing as part of the recruitment process – employers are now seeing the value of getting the right person using such assessments.
“This means not only testing their skills and motivations but their ‘softer’ side, too.
“What are their people skills like? How do they perform under pressure? How do they interact within a team environment?
“All of these are key to ensuring clients hire the right person for the job"
